In Naples you will find the National Archaeological Museum, which is one of the most important and leading archaeological museums in the world. Paestum, which is south east of Naples, is home to one of the oldest and best preserved Doric temples in the world and in Cumae you will find the Sibyl caves. Least we forget the remains that can be found at Pompeii and Herculaneum from the destruction caused by Mount Vesuvius on August 24, 79 AD.

Campania is located in the southern portion of Italy. It is bordered by Lazio to the north-west, Molise to the north, Puglia to the east, Basilicata to the south-east and the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west. According to ISTAT (Italy's National Institute of Statistics) Campania as of 2004 has a population of 5,788,986, which ranks them second behind the region of Lombardy. The city of Naples, which is the regional capital, ranks third in population only behind Rome and Milan. The region ranks 12th out of 20 in total area and approximately 85% of the region is either hilly or mountainous. The region itself consists of 552 comunes which reside in the following 5 provinces: Avellino, Benevento, Caserta, Naples and Salerno. It also includes the islands of Capri, Ischia, and Procida.
