  • Agriturismo

    by Anthony Parente

Agriturismo is Italian for farm holidays. This type of holiday allows tourists the option of enjoying their time in Italy on a farm setting. You might not be aware of this, but this is actually a very popular form of tourism. In fact, there is well over 1500 hundred farms in Italy that offer this opportunity to tourists. You might be asking yourself why I would want to spend my holiday in Italy on a farm. Before you go and book a room at a hotel you might want to consider the various advantages that this form of tourism offers you.

    • Agriturismo is cheaper than staying in a hotel
    • Your away from the city. This means less noise and activity and more peace and quiet
    • You have an opportunity to experience the local culture.
    • Even though you are on a farm you are still close to numerous places for sightseeing
    • There is much more room on a farm to take leisurely strolls and there is a less congestive environment for your children to play in
    • In the evening you can relax outdoors in the peaceful surroundings
    • Great way to spend quality time with your family.
    • What better way is there to experience Italian culture

Like most things in life not everything is perfect. There are many great advantages to agriturismo, but there are also a few disadvantages.

    • Probably would need to rent a car
    • Generally they do not provide room service
    • You probably will not have fax, email, or modem services

Like any holiday it is important for you and your family to sit down and decide what exactly you want from your trip to Italy. Weigh your pluses and minuses between a vacation on a farm and a vacation in a hotel room. Before you make any decision do some research and see what each farm has to offer. With this being a popular trend for tourist many farm owners have made necessary changes to make your stay there comfortable, affordable, pleasant, and extremely happy. Make sure you carefully plan your next vacation and I am sure it will be a memorable one. You can visit my Agriturismo section to find links to various sites on agriturismo. Look through them to get a better feel of what spending your next vacation on a farm would be like.
